Mentoring and Induction Information for Superintendents
SAI provides a mentoring program that satisfies requirements established in § chapter 284A.5 for beginning administrators. A beginning administrator is defined by law as “an individual … who is assuming a position as a school district principal or superintendent for the first time.” Regardless of whether you have a beginning administrator in any given year, your district is required to have a copy of its agreement with SAI on file.
If your district has identified SAI’s program to satisfy this requirement, you will need to do the following:
-
Confirm that you have an agreement with SAI on file. If not, sign and submit this Agreement to SAI.
-
If and when you hire a beginning administrator as defined above, have that person register for the program (using the respective calendar listing). Early enrollment enables the mentor matching process to begin as soon as possible.
-
Review the Program Description and Participant Expectations with your district’s beginning administrator/s.
Note: You do not need to secure a mentor for your beginning administrator; this is part of the service provided by SAI.
