Mike Mulder is 2025 Iowa Arts Administrator of the Year
Mike Mulder, superintendent for MOC-Floyd Valley Community School District, is the 2025 Iowa Fine Arts Administrator of the Year as selected by the Iowa Alliance for Arts Education (IAAE).
Colleagues nominated Mulder for this award and the IAAE established the criteria. Recipients must demonstrate how their leadership contributes to the development of the arts in a school or district.
IAAE Executive Director Leon Kuehner appreciates their involvement in the selection. “The Iowa Alliance for Arts Education would like to extend their congratulations to Mr. Mike Mulder, superintendent with MOC-Floyd Valley CSD, as the 2025 Arts Administrator of the Year. He exemplifies the spirit of this award by being an ardent supporter of arts education and creating an environment where student creativity and expression can thrive,” said Kuehner.
Mulder first taught at MOC-Floyd Valley High School from 2007-2013 before entering into administration. He attended Northwestern College for a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, followed by a Masters of Education in educational administration from Grand Canyon University. He also received his educational specialist license in 2020 from the University of South Dakota.
When he learned of the recognition, Mulder shared, "I am deeply honored to receive this award, which highlights our district’s dedication to supporting and celebrating the arts. The fine arts are essential in developing well-rounded, creative students, and I am grateful to be part of a community that truly values these opportunities. This recognition represents the collective efforts of our talented students and dedicated instructors, whose hard work and passion inspire those around them as they share their gifts.”
SAI Executive Director Lisa Remy shared her own words of congratulations. “Congratulations to Mike for being named Arts Administrator of the Year! His commitment to fostering creativity and supporting the arts has left a lasting impact on both students and staff, enriching the entire school community.”
Iowa’s Administrators of the Year will be recognized at the SAI Annual Conference in August for their contributions to educational leadership.
