Creating time for self-reflection to learn, celebrate, and close out a year offers opportunities to reframe, refocus, and refuel. Schedule an hour or so with yourself. Grab your journal, laptop, or plain old notebook, and dig in.

Saying farewell to 2022:

  1. How have I grown as a leader? As a person?
  2. How do the people closest to me say I’ve grown this year?
  3. What is different about me now as compared to this time last year?
  4. Of what from this year am I most proud?
  5. What is the most awesome thing that happened this year?
  6. What is the most difficult thing that happened this year?
  7. Did these things happen TO me or FOR me?
  8. What did I learn about myself from each of these?
  9. What are the three most essential things I learned OVERALL that I want to make sure I “take with me" into 2023?
  10. Who were my greatest champions and advocates?
  11. What relationships did I create? Grow? Release?
  12. How did I contribute to others' success?
  13. What do I KNOW is TRUE about my character after this year? (What hills did I die on and why?)
  14. Where did I rise?
  15. Where did I stumble? Did I give myself grace?
  16. Where can I give myself more grace moving into 2023?
  17. What was my biggest time suck this year?
  18. What time management strategy served me best this year?
  19. Where did I step out of my comfort zone?
  20. What did I do to improve my leadership-life fit?
  21. For what am I most grateful this year?
  22. What is my purpose as I leave 2022 and move into 2023? What do my friends say when asked why they’re friends with me? (keep asking your friends why with this one until they get to the root of why you’re friends)
  23. Anything else I want to capture for myself as I leave 2022?

Within the opening week or two of 2023, schedule an hour or so with yourself and consider what you want out of the coming year.
